Regional Coordinator

Employer: GTZ for its Support to the Peace Process (STPP), that aims to improve the living conditions for both the PLA in the cantonments and the adjacent communities. the Project is supporting in the sectors of water supply/sanitation, health and small infrastructure related to construction and maintenance works.

Duty Station: Itahari

Responsibilities: General
  • overall management of the project office including administration and finance
  • planning and implementing programme activities at the local level in cooperation with partners in line with the available budget
  • handle local procurement of goods and services
  • undertake regular field visits to the project sites in accordance with requirements of the programme
  • monitor programme progress and prepare periodic reports and document s as required

Responsibilities: Technical

  • participatory needs assessment for waste supply, sanitation and other infrastructure work in PLA cantonments and surrounding communities
  • survey, design and support to implement the related infrastructure works
  • assess requests for water, sanitation and other infrastructure improvement i.e. construction and /or renovation of facilities including waste disposal facilities
  • prepare designs, drawings, cost estimates and bills of quantity
  • prepare tender documents and contract agreements for hiring consulting firms/civil contractors and participate in tendering and selection processes
  • assist in developing and organising trainings to PLAs and selected community representatives in physical infrastructure maintenance

Required qualifications and experience:

  • at least Masters Degree in Civil Engineering with five years experience in water, sanitation and infrastructure development
  • willing and able to make frequent field visits
  • ability to work in an inter-disciplinary team
  • good command on MS Office and AutoCAD software
  • excellent command of both written and spoken English and Nepali

Preference will be given to candidates from the same or surrounding districts, underprivileged and ethnic groups and especially women from these groups. the salary and social benefits will correspond to the GTZ rule applicable to National Staff.
