Various opportunities at Voice of Children (VOC), a Nepalese NGO

Employer: Voice of Children, a Nepalese NGO working with street children and deprived families in urban poor areas.

Position: Family Development Program In Charge

Duty Station: Kathmandu

Responsibilities:

  • Supervision and technical support to a team of social workers and field worker
  • monitoring of the program's activities and results and report writing
  • networking activities and family visits (identification of needs, counselling and information)
  • development and facilitation of training/ group discussion for the beneficiaries

Person Specification:

  • Intermediate/ bachelor or its equivalent in experience
  • at least 2 years experience of working in social work in urban poor areas
  • strong interest for social and field work and willingness to learn new skills and approaches
  • relevant field level experience essential;
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and Nepali;
  • command of computer software

Proposed salary: Rs.12,000 (negotiable)

Position: Network In Charge
Duty Station: Kathmandu

Responsibilities:

  • Identification and coordination with existing services providers to answer the needs of deprived population
  • monitoring, documentation of all networking activities and reports making
  • keeping the information in database encoding and maintenance
  • family visits (identification of needs, counseling and information)

Person Specification:

  • Intermediate/ bachelor or its equivalent in experience
  • experience of working in social work and field work
  • willingness to learn new skills and approaches
  • sound communication skills and strong interest in social work and field work
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and Nepali;
    command of computer software

Proposed salary: Rs.10,500 (negotiable)

Position: Social Worker

Duty Station: Kathmandu

Responsibilities:

  • family visits (identification of needs, counselling and information)
  • management of social centres in poor communities and networking activities
  • supervision of field workers, facilitation of trainings and reports making

Person Specification:

  • Priority in experience working as a social worker at the field in urban poor areas with deprived population
  • SLC/Intermediate its equivalent in experience
  • strong interest in social and field work and willingness to learn new skills and approaches
  • able to speak and write Nepali and English
    Proposed salary: Rs.9,500 (negotiable)
  • Position: Psychologist

    Duty Station: Kathmandu

Responsibilities:

  • counsel the street and sexually abused children and assess the psychological condition
  • make recommendation and coordinate with concerned person for implementation
  • assessment of the situation of family and children during the case study meeting
  • prepare and update reports of all the tasks and make new plans for further activities

Person Specification:

  • post graduate in diploma on psychological counseling and training about psycho-social counseling
  • minimum 2 years experience in the field of children. experience with street children preferred.
  • sound knowledge of working with traumatized/victimized children especially sexually abused.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and Nepali
  • command of computer software
    Proposed salary: Rs.11,000 (negotiable)

Position: Receptionist

Duty Station: Kathmandu

Responsibilities:

  • respond phone calls, emails and receive and disseminate information to the concerned person
  • prepare documents (reports, letters, notices...) in Nepali and English and arrange meeting and schedules
  • keep systematic store and supply materials as per request, record of office equipments and vehicles

Person Specification:

  • Intermediate level or its equivalent in experience
  • sound communication skills
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and Nepali;
  • command of computer software, able to use photocopier and scanner

Proposed salary: Rs.7,000 (negotiable)

Position: Vocational Training In charge

Duty Station: Kathmandu

Responsibilities:

  • orienting, counseling children willing to attend vocational training
  • networking with vocational training providers and implement the activities to facilitate job placement
  • organising and conducting training for children and youth
  • monitoring of the program's activities and results, reports and manual making

Person Specification:

  • Intermediate level or its equivalent in experience
  • at least 2 years experience of working with deprived population
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and Nepali
  • command of computer software
  • experience in HR would be appreciated
    Proposed salary: Rs.10,500 (negotiable)
