Field based positions with Plan Nepal

Plan is an international child centered development organisation, without religious, political or governmental affiliations. One of the largest children's organisations in the world, Plan works with and for poor children and communities in 63 counties around the world. Plan has a vision of a world in which all children realize their full potential in societies hat respect people's rights and dignity.

Plan is working in Nepal since 1978. Plan Nepal works in partnership with children, their families and communities in the areas of health, water and sanitation, education, household economic security, child rights and advocacy, building relationships and development education and empowerment. Plan is working directly in eight districts - Sunsari, Morang, Bara, Rautahat, Makwanpur, Banke Dang/Deukhuri and Bardiya. However its outreach is in over 35 districts.

Competent, committed and self-motivated candidates having experience in development sector with an understanding of poverty, child rights, child protection and gender sensitivity in program approach and behaviour issues are being sought for the following positions:

A. Water and Environmental Sanitation Program Coordinator: (Regular position (Grade C) based in Program Unit 1 (re-advertised position and previous applicants need not apply again)
Specific responsibilities:
  • Provide regular technical support to the Program Unit, partners and communities;
  • Plan, design, implement, monitor and report on WES programs and other construction activities in line with the Country Strategic Plan (CSP) and Country Program Outlines (CPOs), CCCD approach and WES program cycle.
  • Disseminate ideas on technical and social know-how on WES program and other construction activities to community groups, NGOs/CBOs;
  • carry out technical performance audit of special cases of completed WES and other construction.
Required qualifications and experiences:
  • Minimum Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering prefearably major in water and environmental sanitation with practical experience in construction and civil works for community projects;
  • at least 2 years experience in both technical and social aspects in planning, designing, implementing, supervising, monitoring and evaluating community based/managed WES programs and infrastructures;
  • Hands-on experience in construction and civil works for community projects;
  • experience in community facilitation, mobilization, groups, organisation and capacity building.

B. Program Manager representing Freed Kamaiya Livelihood Project in Bardiya district - 1 position.
Specific responsibilities:
  • Develop, manage and strengthen program at the freed Kamaiya settlements in Bardiya;
  • Planning, budgeting, monitoring projects, project implementation, liquidation and expenditure maintaining regular progress reports and share with Program Units, partners, communities and other stakeholders;
  • Capacity building of freed Kamaiya Groups and organisations;
  • Network, linkage, liaison with government authorities, line agencies and INGOs/NGOs development forums.

Required qualifications and experiences:
  • Bachelors degree in social/development field with working experience of Kamaiya issues, however incumbent with Masters degree will be an additional advantage;
  • At least 3 years grassroots experience in managing community development at management level with experience in livelihood field;
  • Highly experienced with community groups especially freed Kamaiya or Tharu communities/ child clubs/ CBOs/ NGOs/ GOs and conversant in local Tharu language.

c. Project Coordinator representing Humanitarian Assistance to Flood Affected Families Project based at Sunsari Program Unit - 1 position for short term period.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Liaise/network with DDRC members, CDO, DDC, Nepal Red Cross Society, relevant GO and INGOs, UN agencies and local organisations involved in disaster responses.
  • Plan, execute and monitor the project progress as per the project proposal referring to Detail Implementation Plan of project proposal;
  • Provide technical support to imp lementing partners (GOs/NGOs/CBOs) to maintain quality of the project.
  • Prepare project and financial reports /case studies as per requirement of donors and organisation;
  • Develop gran t proposals in seeking additional grants for rehabilitation of affected families as per need.


Required qualifications and experiences:

  • Bachelors degree in social/development field with working experience of disaster project, however incumbent with Masters degree will be an additional advantage;
  • At least 3 years working experience in humanitarian and disaster relief work project will be an advantage.

d. Admin & Finance Assistant representing Inclusion Project based at Baglung - 1 position.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Effective management of procurement wit local purchases, receiving and recording of goods and supplies.
  • maintain necessary records for payments to suppliers or community groups as per Plan's requirements.
  • Support day to day office management in the district.
  • Coordinate with Admin/Finance and Program department at Country Office.

Required qualifications and experiences:

  • Bachelors degree in business administration/management with at least 2 years experience in managing procurement and liaison
  • Hands-on experience in dealing with supplies and tax-related matters

All the above positions require good report writing skills and computer operating skills (Word, Excel, Power Point etc.) along with a driving skill and a valid driving licence-holder of two wheeler.
