Team Leader - Village Loan and Saving Scheme Project

Position: Team Leader - Village Loan and Saving Scheme Project funded by Foundation and Saving and Credit Program (FAHU) under Post Project Support Project. The Project is for 2 years and started from November 2008. The working districts are Doti, BAjura, Bajhang and Syangja districts. The aim of this programme is to improve the livelihood security of people, especially the poor, vulnerable and socially excluded women and men through micro-finance, self employment and income.

Work station: Based at Doti cluster office with frequent travel.

Responsibilities:
The team leader will be responsible for strategic support in savings and credit program and modified village savings and loan associations undner FAHU Foundation and PPS program. S/he will be responsible to support in developing CARE Nepal's strategy on saving and credit model, train CARE/partner staff and develop association and market linkage for self employment and better livelihood of PVSE. S/he will work closely with Cluster Office at Doti and Bharatpur.

Required Competencies:
  • familiar with program planning, implementation and monitoring/evaluation skill of micro-finance institutions
  • familiar with grovernment policies on micro-finance institutions and poverty reduction
  • knowledge and skill on different models of micro-finance i.e. cooperative/grameen bank/village bank/self-help groups etc.
  • familiar with micro-finance product, business plan, financial analysis, sub sector analysis and market linkage
  • very good facilitation skill
  • good English and Nepali writing speaking skills
  • analytical report writing skills

Qualification and experience:

  • Masters degree in business management or economics or any other relevant subject
  • at least 5 years of experience in related field
